
FATHER VAN MEMORIAL GOLD MEDAL RECIPIENT 2023
Neeraj Agarwal a batch of 1989 has worked in various sector in Scotland and UK shaping bilateral trade and investment between the two countries. One of his contribution towards his country in setting up a tea company called “Tea People” that would use the profits from selling tea to fund more such projects. In 2013, they ended giving up their day jobs and started building the business ground-up from their kitchen table. Also , during the second wave of Covid a large number of tea gardens were quite badly impacted. So through his willingness, he provided Oxygen Concentrators : 1 (delivered to village hospitals frequented by the tea garden workers ) Oxygen cylinders: 5 (delivered to village hospitals frequented by the tea garden workers). Emergency kits : 10 (delivered to closest village hospitals frequented by the tea garden workers) Food packets and sanitisation kits: delivered to 500 families in the remotest parts in the tea garden regions of Darjeeling.
Mr Neeraj Agarwal has received several nominations from alumni members and alumni associations from across the world.Â
The Awarding Committee has taken all the above factors in mind and has decided to award the “Fr. Van Gold Medal “(VGM) for an outstanding Alumnus who has contributed to his Alma Mater and to the Community by reaching out a hand to the less fortunate in the true spirit of “Being a man for others ” and providing “a lift for the lame and the slow”.
