Phil Ladenla - I'm still floating on air (so to speak!) after
Saturday. Everyone deserves a huge round of applause because you
dove right into the spirit of the occasion and made the Reunion such a
memorable success.
The new format of starting with a picnic was the brainchild of Ashok.
It gave us more time to unwind and get to know one another beyond the
more formal
atmosphere of the evening dinner. Ronnie's games loosened us even
more, both with the hilarity and the unaccustomed rushing about for most
of us! The balloons that Lalita brought really helped in locating
our picnic spot in that vast area of grass and sky. Maureen's cake
dessert and Sophie's apricot squares helped to sweeten the occasion.
We were fortunate to have the SWAGAT with its roominess and decor
recommended to us by Lucy, and for Usha to so ably manage the collection
of the dinner fees.
Very often, we take for granted the smooth flow of an event, only
because we appreciate it when things go awry!
Finally, most everybody asked me for a pledge card. Please act on
this with little delay, while the Reunion is still fresh in your memory
and the needs of "the old school on the hill". Please
mail it with your check to Tony Lao in the envelope that you have.
You may also write a separate check for $25. for the NPAA dues, and send
it to Tony at the same time.
This was another memorable Reunion, and congratulations to each and
every one!
SURSUM CORDA!
Phil LadenLa
Western Regional Coordinator
North Point Alumni Association (NPAA)
Many thanks to Chuck for his research in unearthing the Summerfield
Suites by Wyndham, Sunnyvale, where many of our out-of-town alumni
stayed. Each and everyone was amazed at the comfort, ambience,
range of services and roominess - and at such an inexpensive rate!
Chuck Wong - Well, it was Phil Ladenla, Ronnie Leong, Ashok
Sadhwani and Monishi that did all the heavy lifting. Thanks to
them we can all enjoy our NP nostalgia and lift our home in the hills to
a higher plateau.
Ronnie/Maureen Leong - Dear Phil and all. Thanks for a wonderful
reunion. All attendees and their spouses were great. The North Point
spirit lives on with students from the 40's, 50's, 60's, 70's, and 80's
gracing the event...from Tom Bates NP'40 to Chetan Pradhan NP'89!!! and
the rest of us in between.
Sandip Madan - I don't want to cram your mailboxes, but wanted to
reiterate our sentiments.
Thanks again to you four gentlemen and others (including your lovely
wives) for the great time and the wonderful arrangements for this
reunion! Phil, thanks for the overall organization and Ashok for
the internet coordination/motivation, and the nice slide presentation.
It was great meeting all the NPers (with the small "p" for the
day boys, Monishi?? :-) Nice of you to share your ideas,
btw, I saw Ashok after 32 years, Soumitra after 28 years and met
others for the first time. And Ronnie, the next time we need someone to
break the ice at dinner time I know whom to ask.. :-)
We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and I'm so glad we made the trip to the
West Coast for this.
Let's stay in touch!
Ron Hsu - Hear! Hear!
I would like to add my hearty thanks for the marvelous job, Chuck. I
vote that Chuck be nominated for searching out "Great deals for Air
Travel and Accomodations" for all future events on the West Coast.
Thank you, Chuck
Sandip Madan - Amen to that, absolutely. Thanks, Chuck, and to
your charming wife as well, who I believe also partly inspired the
idea.. We had a great stay.
Eddie Hsu - It was a
wonderful reunion, even my wife Phyllis enjoyed it very much. Thanks to
Chuck for arranging the beautiful and spacious hotel accommodation
which was also very reasonable.
Phil Ladenla - Did I tell you that I talked with Emile LaFrenais
who is going to the UK meeting the end of this month, and will
definitely lobby for future gatherings to include another accompanying
event (like our picnic) so that alumni get to spend more time with one
another. Here's another precedent emanating from the West Coast!
