NORTH POINT REUNION in New York
held on Saturday, October 5, 2002

REPORT

Nigel Brady wrote on October 16, 2002:

A great time was had by all the alumni who attended the reunion dinner in New York City. Many thanks to our wonderful hosts Mr. and Mrs. Dinyar Devitre who not only provided their beautiful apartment on Central Park West, but supplied a delicious catered dinner as well.

We had approximately 26 attendees including Fr Van, a few spouses and Tony Lao’s son and his girlfriend. A complete list of all who attended is given below.

Fr Van gave a brief speech about the current state of affairs at our alma mater. It is heartening to note that after the turmoil of the last few years, the present situation has never looked more promising. The school renovation is well underway and some phases of the Vision 2000+ Renewal project have already commenced. With continued help from all the alumni, current parents and supporting patrons, the school is looking to a bright future.

At some point the alumni gathered around Fr Van and we gave a rousing rendition of the school song. We also had some picture taking and hope to be able to supply some pictures to Ashok Sadhwani to put up on our web site.

After a delicious meal featuring a variety of Indian dishes, we got down to business. All alumni who had not yet filled out their Bio Forms were asked to do so. We then proceeded to collect donations to the school from all present. The total amount raised was over USD$7,000 including donations from Patrick Mahat (Vikrom Mahataphongse – ‘62) and Ken Lao (Sunny Thein Aung – ‘64) who had a mini alumni reunion in the Washington area with Fr Van and Nigel Brady on Oct 3rd.

Towards the end of the evening we had a surprise visit from Mukesh Mirchandani who had only just  arrived at JFK after a grueling flight from Calcutta. He was practically dead on his feet, but  was determined to meet with the USA (East) NP alumni. We salute and thank him for his effort.
