20 April 2012

Dear North Pointer,

It’s time to book your place at the 2012 Reunion in London. It will be:

Saturday 30th June 2012
12:00 noon to 4:00pm
at
Bombay Palace
50 Connaught Street, London W2 2AA

We were there last year and it seemed a popular choice, with plenty of space to move around and spend time with one another.

It’s a very short walk from either Lancaster Gate Tube station or Marble Arch. If you are driving, there’s a car park at the corner of Connaught Street and Edgware Road.

AS last year, the meal will be a buffet, so you can wander around and talk to more people, and there will be plenty of food. There will be two starters (veg and non-veg), two curries (chicken and lamb), two vegetables, dal, roti, two salads, raita and one dessert.  There’s a cash bar, of course.

PRICE: The price will be just £35 per head, all inclusive.

Please complete the accompanying Booking Form and return it to me with your cheque for £35 per person.  Evelyn and I look forward to your company.  As usual, you are invited to add a donation for either North Point or its off-shoot, St Joseph’s at Mungpoo.

RIP: Peter Lodrick, who was a regular at these reunions, went to the School in the Sky in January, and some of us attended his funeral at a packed church in Thornton Heath. Peter was one of those North Pointers who always seemed to be at the head of the table at school. He was a considerable athlete, joint record holder for the 100 yards, and an actor with star quality – the obvious choice to play Robin Hood, for example. He had worked for many years as a teacher and was popular in the local community.

GUEST OF HONOUR: We shall be joined this year by Fr Gerard van Walleghem, the man who has done so much to promote the getting together of NP alumni around the world. At 85 he is still going strong and will join us on his way around the world. He is the man who introduced me to public speaking, and I shall ask him to say a few words at our reunion.

WEBSITE: That reminds me – if you haven’t already done so, please go to www.npalumni.org and enter your details, to be added to the list of North Pointers.

Sursum corda!
