NORTH POINT-LORETO CONVENT
JOINT REUNION IN HUA HIN, THAILAND Click here for that have registered to attend so far. Dan Windsor (NP 1968) wrote from Bangkok on March 18, 2002
1. We are planning a get together for NP School. NP College, Loreto
School and College. Code Name HIHH ( Huffing It in Hua Hin).
2. It is roughly centered on those who were there during years 1965 to
1975, but everyone is welcome. At our last get together we even allowed
a couple of girls married to Paulites ( since they agreed to leave their
hubbies at home ).
3. It will MOST PROBABLY be August 4th to August 8th. TIME
IS TO BE CONFIRMED.
4. It be held in the beach town of Hua Hin. We plan to choose a
hotel
or resort and overrun the joint. The place we will probably pick will
have about 50 to 70 rooms, with a double room going for about $ 22 to $ 35 per
night (Rs1,000 to Rs1,500). It will be very clean, air-conned,
with Disco, dining room, swimming pool etc. It will not be in town, this is to
keep us all imprisoned together with a hostel-like atmosphere.
Since it will be bigger than the last one, we want to keep it cozy by having
us all together for 4 full days, with families. There will definitely be
tennis, bridge, maybe snooker, ping pong, badminton and/or golf.
As for soccer, hockey and cricket, most of
us are too old, but our kids may want it, so we will wait for the majority to
put in their 2 cents. We encourage everyone to bring their wives, kids
(Grandkids!!). LOCATION IS TO BE CONFIRMED.
5. Most people plan to arrive and spend a couple of days in Bangkok
then we will leave by Bus to Hua Hin which is about 2 & 1/2 hour drive.
Then we will return on Friday afternoon and spend a couple of days in Bangkok
shopping, massaging, nightclubbing or going to church etc. When the time
is close a hand, I will also contact a couple of hotels in Bangkok to get a
nice group rate for both the week-ends.
6. I have invited Father Burns (willing, but maybe unable) Father Van
(willing and able) to join. LC'ites will also invite some nuns, but
they do not have the freedom to move around like our priests, so most prob
they will not be there.
7. The program is very loose. Free to laze around by the pool and
catch up during the days. An occasional picnic. Farewell dinner
and just about every evening some one or groups of someones will host a dinner
that generally deteriorates into a disco and Karaoke.
NOW LET ME STRESS THAT NOTHING IS
WRITTEN IN STONE. We did consider October, but the votes
that have come in seem to favour August. If you have an opinion one way
or the other, please let me know. If the majority wants it, it will be
back to October. After the middle of this year, I will also post some
options for hotels on the Website (being designed as we speak). At that time,
I would like to hear your druthers, so I can make a decision. I will
make my decisions solely on this feed-back, please write and express your
wishes, so I don't want anyone to ask ''WHO DIED AND MADE YOU KING??''
If you are quite sure of coming, please write and tell me your preferences and
also tell me if you want a single room, a double room, with connecting doors,
a Honeymoon Suite or whatever. I will put down your name on my Wish List and
will try to get the type of accommodation you want, based on a
first-answer-first-served basis. It is possible that we become
over-booked and the last few would have to stay at another hotel and lose out
on the cozy
togetherness we are hoping to achieve. So far I already have about 25
''confirmed''s. You can always change your mind. The actual bookings
will not be confirmed till March of 2003. By then I would have handed
over the dirty work to Marisa (Shashi
Lajputrai), LC circa 1969). Get your name on the list now to avoid
heartbreak.
Hope to see you all soon.
